The Best Skincare Routine For Your Legs

skincare for legs

Question of the day: do you wash your legs? No, seriously, do you? There you are, showering away or soaking in the bath, and while every square inch of the body generally gets a cleanse with soap and sponge, lower legs tend to miss out. Here at Legology, our mission is to make leg care as much part of your daily bathroom routine as skin and hair care.  Even if it’s just a quick flick of the body brush or a sweep of nourishing cream, your legs deserve a bit of TLC.

DAILY MAINTENANCE

On a daily basis, the greatest favour you can do your legs is to stimulate the lymph and circulation; this is the foundation step to improving the shape and appearance of your legs.  There are two ways to do it: body brush and/or exfoliate.

Body brushing has been adopted for centuries as a way of stimulating the lymph, the body’s natural waste disposal network. It runs just beneath the skin in a network of vessels, clearing away toxins, excess fluid and waste to nodes (or lymph stations) to be metabolised and eliminated by the body. It’s a brilliant design, but its design fault is that the lymph only moves when you move: it doesn’t have a heart to pump it around the body like your circulation.

So, to stimulate it, you need to be moving or using a body brush. Always body brush before, during or after a shower or bath – it doesn’t matter which, as long as you do it the right way, with quick flicks over the skin from feet to knees, knees to hips and wrists to shoulders.  Follow up with a good application of deep drainage cream, massaging it into your legs in a similar upwards direction. You’ll find both our Lymph-Lite brush and hero anti-cellulite cream Air-Lite in our Daily Care Kit For Legs.

TARGETED DETOX

If you’re concerned about cellulite – cellulite on your thighs, perhaps, or buttocks, we have the solution in the form of our Cellu-Lite oil. This is a deeply draining mix of aromatherapy oils like Siberian fir, grapefruit, juniper and rosemary, and it’s designed to be used on local areas of cellulite and congestion to take away trapped fluid and puffiness.

Apply it after using your body brush or exfoliating either by hand, using your fingers to massage it into the skin, or a suction cup to coax the lymph upwards.  The cup is clever: it has a suction action, so it literally vacuums your skin and, as you pull it up over your thigh, it encourages the lymph to travel with it. You’ll find both Cellu-Lite oil and Circu-Lite cup in our Targeted Detox Kit For Legs.

MICRO-LITE KIT

Best beauty routine intentions often fall by the wayside when we go away and are forced to leave our beauty products behind. We’ve thought about that at Legology, by offering our products in hand travel sizes, so you can maintain your leg care and anti-cellulite routine.

Exfoliation is key to the health and shape of your legs. Our scrub, Exfo-Lite, is a rich mix of sea salt and Himalayan pink salt, which has a diuretic benefit, in an oil base. You apply it to dry skin, then rinse it off in the shower or bath. Follow that up with an application of Air-Lite cream or Sun-Lite, our tinted leg cream with anti-fatigue benefits, to keep legs supported and feeling light all day. In the evening, reapply your Air-Lite after a long day on your feet to see those remarkable benefits. You’ll find all of these products, plus Cellu-Lite oil, in your Micro-Kit Discovery Kit For Legs.
